The Michael Jackson album Thriller, the top-selling music album of all time worldwide, is turning 25 years old today. The album that jumpstarted MTV and revolutionized the music video industry will release a special edition.
The best-selling album of all time, Thriller, will be re-released today in an edition that includes a bonus DVD with digitally remastered versions of three big videos from the album, “Thriller”, “Billie Jean” and “Beat It." It will also include Michael Jackson’s famous moon walk from his “Billie Jean” live performance from a 1983 Motown special.
Also, the album will boast additional music from other current popular stars such as Kanye West, Fergie and will.i.am.
If YouTube had been there 25 years ago, it would have racked in billions of views in just a few weeks. The song “Thriller” was released in a video that was 14 minutes long that included Vincent Price, director John Landis, a legion of dancing zombies and the finest choreography this side of MTV.
Jackson set a high bar that every music artist is trying to emulate. The Thriller video lives on as good as ever.
Is there a better music video than Thriller?
