MSNBC Will Pay: Nobody 'Pimp's Out' Chelsea Clinton

MSNBC's David Shuster was apparently not really thinking when he made the comment regarding Chelsea's recent move into the forefront as a major campaigner for her mom Hillary.

When discussing Chelsea's most recent actions, namely that of placing phone calls to Democratic Party superdelegates on her mother's behalf, he mused "But doesn't it seem as though she is being 'pimped out' in a weird sort of way?"

Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson called the comment "beneath contempt" and disgusting. He went on to indicate MSNBC would more than likely no longer be considered a place to find a Clinton speaking anytime soon.

"I, at this point, can't envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network," he added.

Clinton and Barack Obama are scheduled to participate in an MSNBC debate Feb. 26 from Ohio, which holds its primary March 4.

Wolfson stated participation in the scheduled debate is now in jeopardy following the distasteful comment made about Chelsea. He went on to cite other incidents in which MSNBC has made rude comments regarding Clinton and her campaign: Weeks ago, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews felt it necessary to apologize to the former first lady after suggesting her political career had been made possible thanks to her husband's philandering.

Although MSNBC has apologized for Shuster's most recent remark, Wolfson stated neither Hillary or Chelsea had received so much as a phone call.

So, what do you think? Was the comment truly "beyond contempt", or is the Clinton camp running scared of a debate in Ohio?

Are the Clinton's really becoming so thin-skinned that this comment would set their teeth on edge? If so, is this really someone we want to put in charge of declaring war on other countries in the future? I mean seriously, was the comment really all that bad?

Maybe they would prefer the term "interning." No, that might be hitting a little to close to home.
