There is a report that the New England Patriots may have video taped the St. Louis Rams back in 2002 before Super Bowl XXXVI. This comes in the same season as the video controversy in the beginning of the season for taping the New York Jets.
According to the
NY Times, from an unnamed source, The Boston Herald had reported that a member from the Patriot's video department has admitted to taping the Rams before the Super Bowl in 2002. The Patriots ended up winning that game by a last-second field goal.
Vice President of the Patriots in media relations Stacey James said "The coaches have no knowledge of it." The NFL security has confiscated a video camera and tape from a Patriots employee during the season opener this season. The employee had been accused of aiming the camera at the Jet's defensive coaches when they signaled to their players on the field.
The NFL commissioner has fined Bill Belichick $500,000 and the team $250,000 and a first round draft pick for this. Making NFL history in fines, only time will tell to see if this rumor is true and, if proven true, what will happen as a consequence.
