'Lolita' Beds Cause Angry Parents to Raise Their Voices

By KJ Mullins     Feb 2, 2008 in Business
Woolworth's in Britain had never heard of the novel "Lolita" when they sent out an ad featuring the Lolita Midsleeper Combi marketed at little girls in the six year old range.
Thanks to scores of angry parents they now know that "Lolita" was a sexually explicit novel where a stepfather and his 12 year old stepdaughter become lovers.
As Reuters reports: "What seems to have happened is the staff who run the website had never heard of Lolita, and to be honest no one else here had either," a spokesman told British newspapers. "We had to look it up on (online encyclopedia) Wikipedia. But we certainly know who she is now."The whitewashed beds had a pull out desk and cupboard. They have now been dropped by the company.
