The new 3.90 Firmware for the PSP is here and is providing free Skype Service for the PSP Slim as was promised. Unfortunately it has not been released in Japan and Skype service is not available for the Chunky old and durable PSP.
Skype is a voice-over-IP (VOIP) client that works like Microsoft's MSN service, but specializes in voice transfer; with it you can contact any other PSP or PC-based Skype users via the internet for free.
The new 3.90 firmware also expands the PSP's support of PSN titles. Meaning that the PSP can play all of those PSone games that Sony will uploaded to the online store, eventually.
In order to Update to version 3.90, you have to Update through the Network Update Feature already on the PSP. In the mean time, the Official Sony website hasn't been updated with the new firmware.
