On Craigslist, a woman had advertised that she was willing to hire an assassin to kill the wife of a man she had an affair with. The ads made by Ann Marie Linscott was posted in November as a generic request for somebody to take care of her problem.
According to
CBS News, Linscott's intention was to communicate to those who had emailed her in seeking additional information about the job. Linscott offered $5,000 for the hit, and she included the name and address of the woman she wanted to be assassinated by her "silent assassin."
According to the Sacramento FBI,
I've seen some screwy things, but I've personally never heard of anything like this. For a person to advertise openly for a hit man on Craigslist.
An FBI representative had told CBS that he was aware of at least three individuals who had responded to her thinking they had a freelance writing or similar job.
Once they began corresponding with her, that's when they found out that, in fact, it was a murder-for-hire proposal. She was fairly specific, that she was looking for silent assassins to eradicate a woman.
Linscott had called herself Ann Marie and used the alias "Marie." She was arrested Thursday in her home, and federal prosecutors will ask the judge on Tuesday to have her stand trial to identify the victim and her husband.
