A massive fire has broken out on the top floors of the 32-floor Monte Carlo hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Fiery debris is falling from the building as large crowds gather to watch the building burn.
The fire was originally reported at 11am before spreading from the center section of the hotel across the roof. Gamblers and hotel guests have been evacuated and huge clouds of black smoke are now visible about the Las Vegas Strip.
According to large, fiery debris has also fallen from the building on the streets below where huge crowds have gathered to watch the fire blaze.
"The building is being evacuated," said Gordon Absher, spokesman for the hotel owner, MGM Mirage Inc. He said he had no immediate information whether anyone was hurt in the fire.
Currently investigators are trying to see if the fire has penetrated the building's top floors, which are filled with luxury suites, or if the fire was confined to the facade.
At this time there have been no report of injuries.
