In the case of US Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, it will take a lot more than serving coffee to sway one independent voter to giving him his vote. It is proof that Huckabee is giving it his all in New Hampshire.
Former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee was outside the Brookside Congregational Church in Manchester to greet voters outside the polling place. He ran into one independent voter named Joe Legay who is 70 years old. Huckabee asked Legay which candidate he was voting for in the New Hampshire Republican primary.
“
I’m independent,” Legay answered ducking Huckabee’s question.
“
So I have one more chance, what can I do? Can I pour you coffee?” Huckabee offered. He would then pour Legay a cup of coffee from a doughnut shop coffee container. He then asked Legay: “
Where else than in New Hampshire does a candidate come out and personally pour coffee?”
Huckabee asked Legay how he would vote.
“
I’m independent so I have to stay quiet,” Legay said. It was apparent that he did not want to hurt Mike Huckabee’s feelings. As Huckabee moved on, Legay said he was voting for Barack Obama.
“
My suggestion is that if he (Obama) makes it, then (John Edwards) should be his vice president,” Legay said to reporters.
One woman named Mary Doughtie said she was voting for Romney. “
I liked his stance on immigration the most,” Mary said. She added: “
And I’m against abortion. And I’m against gay marriage. So, his ideals were most like mine.”
Daniel Lencki said he was voting for Hillary. “
I like the other day the way she fought Edwards,” Daniel said in regards to the debates.
