The World's Largest TV and Other TV Trends
by ashley.woods4.
Television companies are constantly competing to make the best television, but what makes the best television? If size is your pick, Panasonic just came out with an 150-inch television.
The television stands 11 feet by 6.25 feet with 8.84 million pixels of resolution. As you can imagine, most onlookers are in awe of a television that size.
Not only are
television-makers obsessed with competing in size but designers are now seeing who can make the thinnest television.
Virtually every vendor is offering a screen (LCD or plasma) less than 2 inches thick. LG's is 1.7 inches thick. Hitachi's plasma is 1.5 inches and its LCD is just 0.75 inch. Sharp also has a 0.8-inch-thick LCD (52 inches diagonally, too). But it's Pioneer's 0.35-inch plasma that takes the weight loss crown, even if it is a prototype.
Another trend in the television world is improving color and brightness of the television's picture. Sony and Samsung are currently working on what is called
OLED and seem to be moving along quite impressively. The technology of OLED compared with LCD is amazing -- researches say the color and brightness is astonishing and surpasses TV's predecessors of LCD and plasma. OLED televisions will be for sale in the United States, and an 11-inch screen will cost $2,500.
And the final trend is
wireless HD. This form of technology will remove the need for HDMI cables and connections.
