McDonald's plans to battle Starbucks by opening a coffee bar in each of its 14,000 stores across the U.S. McDonald's will compete with Starbucks by serving lattes, mochas, espressos and even a McDonald’s version of the iconic Starbucks' Frappuccino.
Not only will McDonald's begin to serve lattes, mochas and espressos but reportedly the McDonald's coffee version will also be 60 cents cheaper than Starbucks.

Should Starbucks be worried? There is no doubt that there could be an ongoing price war between the two when the McDonald's coffee bars launch.

In February 2007, nearly a year ago, McDonald's beat Starbucks in a taste test.

The trained sippers found the $1.55 Starbucks coffee ``strong, but burnt and bitter'', according to the New York Post.
Not only did McDonald's coffee beat Starbucks in the taste test, but they also beat Burger King and Dunkin' Donuts.

The cheaper McDonald's caffeine fix, costing $1.35 was ``decent and moderately strong''.
Perhaps this is another scare for Starbucks.

McDonald's plans to add $1 billion in revenue each year by selling coffee drinks. This isn't a huge boost in revenue since they make approximately $20 billion a year. Nonetheless, their sales are still expected to increase.

The addition of the coffee bar in each store is the first major addition to the menu since it decided to add breakfast options nearly 30 years ago.
