Diana And Dodi Were Finished Weeks Before They Died Says Friend

By Michelle Duffy     Jan 7, 2008 in World
A close friend to Princess Diana has told Sky News that he believed the romance between her and Dodi was long over before they were both killed in the car crash in Paris in 1997. The friend of the Princess said that she had told him herself it was over
Rodney Turner, who is a loyal and close friend of the late Princess, claims that he knew the romance was dead and buried before the night of the crash in the Paris tunnel.
Mr Turner, who is a car dealer by trade, told Sky News that the relationship was "all over." The friend of the Spencer family had already made it clear to them that he personally, was against the relationship from the start to Diana.
Mr Turner had not be a fan of Dodi's father, the owner of the famous London store, Harrods. He had said that he believed Mr Mohamed al Fayed was the reason he was against the romance.
The Harrods boss has always been convinced that Diana and Dodi were murdered as a part of a conspiracy to stop them getting married. Mr al Fayed also strongly believes that Diana was pregnant with his grandchild when she died in the crash along with Dodi and driver, Henri Paul on the night of August the 31st 1997.
According to official reports made by the pathologist, Dr Robert Chapman, there was no evidence that the Princess was pregnant at the time of the crash.
Speaking as a witness at the current inquest into the deaths of Diana, the Princess of Wales and her companion, Dodi al Fayed, Mr Turner had said that Diana told him " was over, which was really a shock to me..."
When informing Diana, that he was shocked during a conversation between the friends only a few weeks before she died, Diana added,
"Don't fuss, don't fuss. I've had a wonderful time."
However, Mr Turner said that he was even more shocked when later, Diana decided to join Dodi for a holiday in France.
Mr Turner, a director of HR Owen, told the court he was also well aware that Diana may have told other friends a different story.
Mr Turner proceeded to tell the court of the "bombshell" news that she believed Prince Charles was trying to have her killed which she informed her butler, Paul Burrell of in a letter.
Mr Turner had been a close friend to Diana for two years before she died. Their business/friendship began when he started supplying her with BMW's from his company.
They also had other connections through their children, as they had attend the same college at Eton.
The inquest is currently half way through it's six month schedule at the Old Bailey in London.
