A Washington state patrol trooper shot a woman with a taser after she became aggressive with the officer. The woman was walking along interstate 90 causing cars to swerve around her.
A 37 year old woman was tasered on Wednesday morning after troopers say that she was stopped for walking on the westbound interstate 90 bridge in Seattle.
According to a state patrol spokesman the incident took place around 6:30 a.m. and cars were forced to swerve around her.
A responding trooper finally caught up to the woman and the trooper told her to to stay out of the traffic lanes. The woman than ignored the officer's warning and jumped into the right lane of the road and started to scream and swear.
The woman became more aggressive as the trooper told her to stop. The trooper used his taser gun twice after the woman tried to charge at him. The woman failed to make any physical contact and the spokesman says that the taser is a last resort and the trooper used his taser gun to try and avoid a physical fight.
The woman was not injured and she was taken to a nearby hospital.
The incident is similar to the one that ended the life of Aaron Larson. Larson was shot and killed by a state trooper after the trooper responded to a call that a man jumped out of a car on the freeway and was pounding on other vehicles.
Larson and the trooper fought on the freeway and Larson was tasered and when the taser failed that is when the trooper shot the man.
That case is still being investigated and the trooper is on leave.
