The New Year has already produced its first "stupid criminal." The winner is Adam Grennan. 39, of Hull, Massachusetts, who tried to rob a Boston area bank, not realizing that the person behind him in line, Kamau Pritchard, was...
a uniformed Boston Police Department officer.

Perhaps due to his appearance, Grennan drew attention from the moment he entered the bank. He was wearing a scarf which concealed his face, white gloves and a hooded parka which was too large. He then passed a note to a teller, demanding "large bills and 'no funny money.' "

Officer Pritchard, 31, was on a break from a security detail at the Mt. Washington Bank at 489 Gallivan Boulevard in Dorchester, a Boston suburb. When he saw Grennan on surveillance cameras and an assistant manager banged on his office door, Pritchard slipped into line, drew his service revolver, and placed the clueless Grennan under arrest.

Pritchard said:
He doesn't realize I'm behind him...He's focused on actually getting the money.

Grennan was arraigned yesterday on a charge of unarmed bank robbery in Dorchester Circuit Court.

I think the guy needs to be charged with criminal cluelessness, which in some cases, can be a capital offense. ;o)
