Oops, He Did It Again: Mike Huckabee Goes "Fishing" In Iowa
by Pamela Jean (GotTheScoop).
Remember all of the hullabaloo over Huckabee's Christmas message? The one that "accidentally" seemed to have the symbol of the cross in the background? Once again Mike has conveniently included a religious symbol in his most recent ad, just released today
The 30-second spot released today features Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, addressing the Iowa Christian Alliance against a banner showing the ichthys, a simple fish representation common among evangelicals.
This ad comes on the heels of
the ad he just pulled. That ad, which aired exclusively on Fox News was a direct attack at Mitt Romney.
Prior to the release of the ad, Huckabee held a press conference announcing that he had decided to change his tactics and had ordered his staff not to run it. He then released copies to the press.
So, he didn't want anyone to see it, so he held a press conference to make sure everyone knew he didn't want anyone to see it, and then made sure everyone got a copy of the ad he didn't want anyone to see.
Yea, I get it.
Now comes the new plan. An ad that at the opening features Huckabee addressing the Christian Alliance, touting his message of "family, life and freedom".
"The purpose of these ads is to highlight the things that truly matter -- while underscoring my conservative record of leadership and my vision for America moving forward," Huckabee said in a news release Tuesday.
He speaks of how people in this country are having our values trampled. He addresses his opposition to abortion and goes on to say that our founding fathers understood the value of life, and being unborn doesn't make you less valuable.
Huckabee is obviously playing it up big time to the religious right in this country. A powerful base that carries a lot of clout, and can deliver a lot of votes.
As a Christian, I have to say that I find his efforts to win my vote by waving his faith in my face offensive.
I fell for it once with GW, but I can assure you, I won't be fooled again.
