article imageFast food worker returns six-figure check

By Owen Weldon     Jan 1, 2008 in World
A fast food worker in Connecticut found a check in an envelope and picked it up thinking it was litter. The 47 year old man was able to return the check to the rightful owner, who is a landlord.
If the old saying "what goes around comes around" is true than 47 year old Reggie Damone might have something good come back to him after he returned a $185,000 check to the rightful owner.
Damone works at a fast food restaurant and receives food stamps and he found the check on the sidewalk and says he did not even think twice about keeping it or cashing it.
Damone tracked down the owner of the check and took a bus on Monday to the bank and returned the check to the owner's niece, who rewarded him with a $50 bill.
Damone said that the money could have paid his rent and other bills for a long time but he did not give into temptation.
I think it was very nice of him to go through the trouble of tracking down the owner of the check all by himself and the owner lucked out because another person might have just done the opposite.
