China's censors, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television have issued warnings to movie producers and studios that the production of sexual explicit videos will result in severe punishment. Also included in the ban is vulgar language & rape.
China's censors, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television made it explicitly clear that movie studios, producers and actors are also banned from participating in any award ceremonies or competing in any such events.
The government instructed producers and actors to "bear their own responsibility in correcting the wrong deeds of producing erotic movies. Violating studios might face the harshest punishment of revoking permits for shooting films."
Also included in the ban were explicit song lyrics, depictions of rape or any hardcore sexual act, sound effects with sexual connotations and language considered to be vulgar.
The Beijing News quoted the ordinance as saying "The heaviest punishment for such violation would lead to a five-year ban of perpetrators from the movie industry."
