JK Rowling says she is tempted to write an eighth Harry Potter book, but she said it may take years before it is released and Harry Potter may not be the main character in it.
After Rowling released her seventh book, “
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, she said that she will no longer write any more Harry Potter novels. Recently, Rowling
released a limited edition hand written book, “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” with characters based on Harry Potter books. But
now she seems to have changed her mind and may write an eighth Harry Potter book.
She told Times magazine she is feeling tempted to write this eighth book:
There have been times since finishing, weak moments, when I've said: 'Yeah, all right' to the eighth novel,"
Rowling said if she ever ends up writing this eighth novel, Potter may not be the central character in it. She said Harry Potter’s story has already been narrated enough. She probably wants to focus on other characters.
She is not planning to write this book anytime soon and said it may take her 10 years to write it.
The article says she is currently involved in writing an adult novel.
Harry Potter fans will be pleased about this news, but I doubt they can wait 10 years for it, they may demand Rowling to release it sooner. Also, she should release the handwritten book “The Tales of Beedle the Bard”, for the general public, why keep it exclusive only for a few?
