Many of us have a hard enough time trying to hit a golf ball, yet this Washington State man is carving intricate scenes inside real TopFlite golf balls. He claims to do everything from your favorite course to police chases and dragons, very impressive.
King5.com reports, Many of us have never given any thought to a golf ball, aside from playing our favorite 18 holes, but Washington based artist Patric Herber is changing all of that with his very unique talent.
This ex-construction worker turned artist stumbled on to this craft by accident, "There was a golf ball sitting there and I just kind of started playing with it," says Herber about his first golf-ball carving experiment four years ago. "I decided to cut it open with a hacksaw and take out the rubber bands inside, but there weren't any rubber bands inside. It had a solid core in it, so I just picked up a chisel and played with it.".
With past learning experiences behind him, Herber has now become very talented at what he does, with his work impressing the most die hard golfers. The interesting twist to this story is that Patric has never played a round of golf in his life.
Now working this as a hobby, Herber does hope that the future holds an exciting business with his golf art niche.
His golf balls are created using miniature wood carving chisels, a curved dental pick, an X-ACTO knife, drill bits and fine paint brushes and toothpicks for the detailed painting.
You can find these wonderful pieces online at Herber's website
