The Hindu nationalist BJP of India led by Narendra Modi has won a key election in the western Indian state of Gujarat according to the final results. This is the fourth straight poll victory for Mr. Modi and the BJP.

BJP. This is the controversial right-wing Chief Minister, who has been accredited for pursuing economic policies that have brought forth success. The state of Gujarat is divided by communities. The Congress party that governs Gujarat had admitted defeat at the hands of the BJP.
This victory according to the correspondents will help boost the BJP. It will challenge Congress in the run-up to the general election due to take place in the next 18 months from now.
Out of the 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Narendra Modi’s BJP has won 117 of those 182 seats. The Congress has won 59 of those seats. Small parties will get the remaining six seats.
In Gujarat, this is the BJP’s fourth consecutive victory.
While the Congress party of Gujarat admitted defeat, it reminded the voters of 2002 where religious riots took place. Mr. Modi and the BJP have been accused of failing to protect the Muslim community in those riots. 1,000 people had died in the 2002 riots.
They have worked hard to attempt to defeat the BJP with major rallies by top leaders Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul. Rahul is the latest member of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty in the country’s politics.
The BJP’s fourth consecutive victory means a major setback for the Congress party.
