R.Kelly's bond might be revoked

By Owen Weldon     Dec 20, 2007 in Entertainment
R&B superstar R.Kelly might have his bond revoked after he failed to show up in court on Wednesday. A judge in Cook County, Chicago will review the case and make a decision on whether to revoke the singer's bond or set travel restrictions for the singer.
A judge might revoke R.Kelly's bond or set travel restrictions for the singer which would enable the singer to tour in concert. Judge Vincent Gaughan said on Friday he will hold a hearing and will consider the issues.
This is happening because the singer missed a court date on Wednesday and showed up on on Thursday instead and told the judge that he did not show because there was a problem with the driver of his tour bus.
Prosecutors are not happy and they have said that the singer is taking advantage of an already lenient situation for someone who is facing charges in a case of sex involving a minor.
Kelly's lawyers say that the singer was on his way to court but his bus got pulled over by Utah state police and that they were delayed for eight hours because police made the bus driver take a mandatory rest period at a hotel.
The case has been going on for more than five years without going to trial and the singer is facing charges of child pornography. The charges stem from a videotape of a sexual encounter that he had with the then-teenage girl.
The singer is currently conducting a 45-city concert tour.
