Op-Ed: Britney Spears’ Little Sister, Jamie Lynn, Knocked Up at 16

by okieboy.
Jamie Lynn Spears, the sixteen year old star of Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101” and little sister to the famous (or infamous) Britney Spears has been impregnated by her nineteen year old boy friend. Yep, Britney was a great role model for little sis.
Jamie plays a sweet, wholesome, virginal character on the Nickelodeon show geared toward pre-teen girls. “Zoey 101” once thought of as a safe, family values show has been tainted with the stench of teenage premarital sex and pregnancy. What television choices are left for concerned parents? All eyes turn to Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana.

I doubt it will happen but the best example that Nickelodeon could set would be to fire Jamie Lynn from the show. It would show impressionable young girls that there are indeed consequences for making poor life decisions. This is a lesson that far too few parents are willing to teach.

She’s 16 and he’s 19. What the hell were the parents thinking in allowing this relationship to develop? Apparently, they’re following the same play book they used for Britney, since that turned out so well.
