Top UK football star, Jonny Evans has today, been released on police bail after being accused for raping a woman at the Manchester United Christmas party at a luxurious hotel. The allegation is still under police investigation
Evans, who is a star football player for Manchester United and Northern Ireland, was arrested on Tuesday after a woman approached police, bringing the rape allegations against the 19 year old football player. The management of Manchester United have denied making any comment on the recent events in the squad member's life.
The 26 year old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, says that the rape took place at the luxurious Great John Street Hotel in Manchester the night before. Evans now remains on police bail until the 23rd of February. The club had been celebrating Christmas at the private party along with friends and family members.
Police from Greater Manchester were called to the hotel around quarter past four on Tuesday morning. The Old Victorian School house, now converted into a luxury hotel boasts 30 duplex rooms and beautiful suites. Staff at the Castlefield hotel are now helping police with their enquiries.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Police said,
"A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape this evening after presenting himself to police."
