Two bullet holes in the fuselage forced a return to base after drug traffickers mistook his helicopter for a police operation under way and took to trying to shoot it out of the sky.
An actor, in the guise of Santa Claus, was on his way to a children's Christmas party located in the Nova Mare slum area Sunday, when he and his pilot were fired upon over the Vila Joao area.
After taking two known hits, later found located in the helicopters fuselage, the pilot returned to his base due to the extreme danger flying over the area proved to be.
"They thought it was a police operation and started shooting. Luckily, nobody was hurt," a police official said.
As reported on msnbc
Santa decided it would be safer to stay out of the skies in this particular area and instead decided to continue on his way to the party via car and successfully delivered his packages to the waiting children.
He sure must have had nerves of steel and a strong determination to continue on with his quest to deliver those toys after being fired upon, because shurley Santa doesn't get hazard pay does he?
