Strong winds, heavy snows and possible ice pellets are heading east across Canada and it is not even officially winter yet. Flights between Chicago's O'Hare Airport and Toronto and Montreal have already been cancelled or delayed.
The strong winds and swirling snow give advanced warning of the storm that is headed this way. The bright blue skies merely mean it is cold. The CBC reports that a major snowstorm is coming, one that will sweep across southern Ontario, Quebec and Canada’s east coast.
In Ontario the areas that will bear the brunt of the storm are Hamilton, Burlington, Ont., and Toronto. The St. Lawrence Valley and Quebec City will be next as the snow moves east.
A severe weather warning was issued for much of southern Ontario under a severe weather warning along with storm watches for Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Forecasters are watching an unstable weather mass that is bearing down from Texas.
Winds gusting up to 80 kilometers an hour and heavy snow mixed with ice pellets is expected.
In the United States, many of the flights between Chicago's busy O'Hare Airport and Toronto and Montreal have already been cancelled or delayed.
