Former CIA agent John Kiriakou has publicly confirmed that the White House instructed the agency to use waterboarding as an interrogation technique. The White House has denied this accusation thus far.
Kiriakou confirmed this on NBC television. He said that the White House had collaborated with the National Security agency and the Justice Ministry on the decision.
Waterboarding is torture that near drowns people. Kiriakou commented on another interview with him which was published today [Tuesday] in the Washington Times.
He told NBC that 'waterboarding likely [ had] saved lives'. Kiriakou was involved with the arrest and questioning of one of the first Al Queda suspects shortly after 9/11.
