Dec 10, 2007 - 'She just wanted to dress like we do' - 10 comments

A man is accused of killing his own daughter in a Toronto suburb because she refused to wear a hijab. His 26-year-old son is also facing charges for obstructing police officers in the investigation.
On Wednesday, a 57-year-old father will face charges of murder. He is accused of killing his 16-year-old daughter for not wearing a hijab. The man is Muhammad Parvez and he is a devout Muslim.
After the murder took place a source says that Parvez called police and told them that he had just killed his daughter. Parvez's 26-year-old son is also being charged for obstructing police.
Friends of the victim told authorities the girl was having trouble at home because she was not conforming to the family's religious beliefs and she refused to wear a hijab.
Other people said the girl just wanted to dress like everyone else at her school and she wanted to show her beauty. When the young girl tried to pave her own path the father got enraged and did not let her.
The girl was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died in the hospital.
