A 29 year old man has broke the world record for distance thrown in a a car accident. He was thrown 118 feet after he was struck by a car that was going 75 miles per hour and lives to tell the story.
When the 2008 Guinness book of records came out volunteer firefighter Matthew McKnight had something to be proud of and that is because he holds a world record. What world record you ask? He holds the world record for "
Greatest distance thrown in a car accident" and yes it is a real world record according to the book.
How far was he thrown you ask? He was thrown 118 feet after a car hit him traveling at 70 mph. The 29 year old world record holder suffered two dislocated shoulder plus a broken shoulder, pelvis, leg and tailbone.
He broke the record back in 2001 when he was helping accident victims on interstate 376 in a town east of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It took McKnight two and a half months to finally return back to work.
Guinness recognized the record because McKnight's ER physician submitted the paperwork to them. Even though the record was recognized in 2003, it was not listed until the 2008 edition of the book.
