The country of South Korea is facing what looks to be larger than the oil spill in San Francisco two months ago. What caused this latest in environmental accident to happen in the world?
Sources report that 66,000 gallons of oil have spilled upon the shores of South Korea due to a collision. A large vessel carrying a crane collided into an anchored oil tanker off the west coast of South Korea.
This accident has raised concern since oil is now spilling into several fish farms.and it hasn't been fully contained.
"Oil is still spilling. The police face difficulty in carrying out the operation because high waves make it hard to contain the spill," said Jeong Seon-mun, an official with South Korea's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
So far 12 coast guard boats and 3 accident-control boats have been deployed.
