Starbucks announced today that it's recalling about 167,000 coffee mugs because of burn hazards. The mugs were sold in Canada and the United States. Handles on Fusion Coffee Mugs can come off, spilling coffee and burning people.
The 14-ounce coffee mugs which are being recalled are described as being white with a handle of black plastic, with a stainless steel base. A "Starbucks Coffee" logo imprinted on the defective mugs comes in two colors: the brown original Starbucks logo or a black stamp. The Chinese-made mugs sold for about $11.00, and were available from February 2007 through November 2007. Mugs with the brown stamp were only sold in Seattle, where Starbucks is based.

While there have been 23 incidences of the handles detaching, only nine have resulted in minor burns. According to CTV, it's not known if any of the burn incidents occurred in Canada. Consumers can contact Starbucks for a free beverage and a full refund.

Good one, Christopher! You got a laugh out of me, which is hard to do this evening because I've been spectacularly unsuccessful so far in convincing my husband that it's time to put up Christmas lights. And you're right, sky - China=defective products lately.

Ah, I see, thank you. I always wonder why people don't extensively test their products before taking them public. Would save the embarrassment and hassle of recalls.
