A UK weight loss poll showed that women spend more than £150,000 (US$309,853) on weight loss programs during their lifetime. The same poll also showed they gain back most of the weight lost.
More Magazine in UK did a poll about weight loss and found astonishing results. More than two thousand women responded to the poll.
The poll showed that the average UK female spends nearly £807 (US$1,167) per pound of weight they lose on weight loss programs. If we factor this over their lifetime, they spend approximately £150,000 (US$309,853).
The cost includes gym membership, diet and exercise DVDs, books, exercise equipment and clothing.
Even if one considers this as an acceptable amount, the women gain back most of the weight lost in these programs.
Susan Riley, assistant editor at More Magazine said in the article:
I don’t think women realize exactly how much they are spending on losing weight…”
