If you want quick recognition for your unknown music band, have your song selected for the Apple iPod commercial, and you get instant success and fame. After the song is chosen by Apple, they become a big hit in the music charts.
The recent
iPod commercials has songs from unknown bands in their background, a few of them recently have become no-names to famous instantly after their songs was posted in the iPod ads. One of them was an amateur commercial made by Nick Haley, 18 year old university student in England. He paired his images of iPod with a song name “Music is my Hot, Hot Sex” by a Brazilian band called CSS, short version of their original name Cansei de Ser Sexy (tired of being sexy in English).
Haley’s YouTube video became quiet a big hit, Apple invited him to Los Angeles and remade the video with slight changes and put this commercial as shown here. Since, this ad was posted, the band that had no previous success, suddenly started selling thousands of their songs.
The Canadian band Feist had another similar success story when their song “1234?” was used recently for the iPod Nano. Thanks to this promotion, they sold more than many thousand songs and also landed a spot on Saturday Night Live gaining further exposure.
Apple doesn’t reveal how they chose the songs for their commercials, but it seems they know what songs to play. If your band can impress them, you can become successful, it is a long shot but worth a try.
