Tom Cruise doesn’t want to be stereotyped so he wants to act in a different type of role, this time depicting Hugh Hefner, the Playboy founder. Tom Cruise seems to be the hot favorite to play the 81-year-old Hefner in an upcoming movie.
Most of Tom Cruise's roles include playing people who are young, bratty, angry or assertive. He no longer wants to do such roles and instead wants to portray a different character to show his versatility.

A source close to the actor said he received an offer to play Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner.

The source said Cruise knows of Hefner's colorful past and thinks he can portray him better than anyone. He believes he would be the perfect person to bring this story to the big screen. Cruise thinks the role would be a big challenge for him, but he wants to show his versatility.

Cruise thinks the media is too focused on him and his marriage to Katie Holmes, so he wants to remind the world he can act too.

The media tried to get confirmation about this story from Cruise, but the spokesperson for the star refused to confirm whether he has officially accepted this part or not.

There was a previous story that reported the Scientology group was trying to build him up as Christ-like figure, so I would imagine this role could hurt his image? Or, will Scientologists be open-minded?

Would you watch this movie?
