Traffic Backed Up On Toronto's 401 After Body Found

By KJ Mullins     Nov 17, 2007 in Crime
Traffic on the 401 was backed up on Friday after a body was found laying beside the road. The victim was spotted by a high school student riding in her father's car at around 10 am. The body was spotted on the southbound Don Valley Parkway in Toronto.
The victim was a young man that police believe had been involved in an accident overnight. Police had towed away a pickup truck in the same area the night before that was abandoned at about 1 am according to CTV.
The thought is that the victim had been ejected from the pickup when it slammed into a guardrail. The deceased had not been wearing a seat belt.
"The vehicle continued down the highway, crossing five lanes of traffic then hitting the steel guardrail and coming to rest,'' OPP Const. Dave Woodford told reporters.
The 401 was closed for about four hours as the police investigated the accident. If anyone witnessed the accident on Thursday night the police would like for them to contact authorities.
