One broken nose, two people who ended up with concussions and two others who received lacerations to their face bad enough to need stitches with a total of 18 reports received so far, now they are being recalled
Nike Inc., of Beaverton, OR. has issued a recall for about 235,000 of their football helmet chin straps.

Released in a color combination of black/gray and white/gray, the recalled football helmet chin strap consists of a plastic cup with a foam liner, straps and four metal snaps.

Sizes for adults and youths are both part of this recall. The style numbers FA0016 046, FA0016 130, FA0021 046, or FA0021 130 and can be found on the inside of the strap along with the words "Made in China". The chin cup has the Nike Swoosh trademark (logo) printed on it.

They were sold nationwide and on the Nike website from April 2006 to October 2007 at a price of around $20.

Nike is offering a product voucher that can be used at their website www.nikestore.com, call 1-888-583-6453 to get more information on how to get this voucher.

For some reason I thought this type of gear was supposed to protect from just these types of injuries.
