article imageNo More 'Ho Ho Ho' Coming From Santa

Santa's in Sydney, Australia have been told not to use the phrase 'ho ho ho' because it is could be offensive to women. Instead, the Santa's can use phrases such as, 'ha ha ha.'
A lot of Santa's are angered by this decision, saying it is ridiculous. The rule makers think the traditional phrase 'ho ho ho' may be frightening to young children. They also think the phrase is to close to the term 'ho,' the US slang term used for a prostitute.

Not only are Santa's angered about the decision, but so are parents and community volunteers. They feel it takes away from the traditions of the holidays.

"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.

"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.

"Leave Santa alone."
A US-based spokesperson for Westaff said that it was "misleading" to say that the company had forced each Santa to refrain from the 'ho ho ho' phrase. Rather, they say they are leaving it up to each individual Santa to decide whether or not use the phrase.

This is one of the most ridiculous things that I have ever heard. It seems like we are becoming so "politically correct" that every word, every traditional phrase has to be scrutinized to be sure that there isn't a word in it that doesn't offended someone.

Some entertainer said once something like " people are seeing so much into things that they now want to make a garment for the crotch of a tree."
My version of what was said. :-)

My first thought was, "Give me a break," but I see someone quoted in the article beat me to it. I agree with her. Ridiculous.

This is a perfect example of politically correct insanity.

I couldn't agree more Mom. We live in a world where people look for reasons to be offended. It's not Santa's words that need to be changed,it's peoples oversensitivity.

It is ridiculous, I didn't realize this connection until they told so. They should find better things to do than make this stupid connection.

    HO HO HO!

and if you don't like it .... =P

Honestly this is getting horrible... Every single holiday is getting crap now, even Thanksgiving... I think people get off so much from being controversial and offensive that it is pathetic. I don't think people actually care they just want to hear themselves whine.

I'm with you Am and this is a time for all of us to rant.

When I was a kid we used to say---

HO HO HO and a BOTTLE of RUM

Yep - the "PC" crowd is alive and well and beating down anything they can find. So, I suppose all of the older children's programs that feature Santa proclaiming "Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas" will be edited to say "Ha Ha Ha Happy Holidays" and anyone in possession of one of the VHS tapes of DVD's will be required to turn them over to the proper authorities so as not to risk harming young children.

Am I the only one that thinks "Ha Ha Ha" sounds more like the Joker from Batman? Not very Christmas like to me.

This PC stuff has gotta go. I'm afraid the world is getting more and more like the one in Demolition Man.

Unbelievable. I would have never made the connection either! It looks like a vast majority of the human race has become so miserable that they look for ways to make everyone feel the same way.

I think they might have to make some changes to the tale of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" as well.....

No more "Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's off to work we go"......nor can you refer to them as dwarfs.....I think the PC description is now "little people" if I'm not mistaken.

As a society, I think it's gone beyond crazy. I think it's bloody well paranoid!
