The newest Captain for the USS Enterprise is Canadian actor Bruce Greenwood. He will be joining the crew of the newest J.J.Abrams Star Trek film. The film shows the early years of the mission.
Greenwood will be playing Capt. Christopher Pike. The role was originated in the unaired 1966 television pilot as the original Captain of the space ship.
The film is set to begin production in November. Winona Ryder will also be in the cast as the mother of a young Spock.
The new film will follow James T. Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Uhura and Sulu after they graduate from Starfleet Academy.
Shatner has complained that he wasn't invited to be in the film. There isn't any word on that tough at the moment.
