7 year old Adin Delkic, of Colorado, was honored by the Cunningham Fire Rescue for his phone call to 911 after his mother had a seizure and fell on top of his 2 year old baby brother.
According to 9News.com, Adin's mother Adisa (31) had a seizure, fell on top of his brother and wasn't breathing on August 31. Instead of panicking, Adin dialed 911 and called for an ambulance to come save his mother.
"I told them if they don't come, I think my mom's gonna die," said Adin.
The dispatcher who took the call said that he remained calmer than many adults who phone 911. For his actions, which saved his mother and baby brother, he was given a 911 Hero's award.
"The district wishes to recognize your efforts on August 31, 2007. Great job buddy," said Cunningham Fire Rescue Lt. David Mueller. "His actions resulted in his mother receiving prompt and appropriate care. I believe the child's actions showed maturity beyond his age."
Adin's parents and brother attended the ceremony.
I've actually heard people say that it's a waste of time to teach kids to dial 911, because they'll just panic. It's nice to have proof that the sentiment is simply not true.
