A 2-year-old girl who was born with four ams and four legs and is believed by some to be the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess. Today, doctors are removing her extra limbs in a 40-hour surgery.
Doctor's are suggesting that the extra limbs are not due to reincarnation but are the result of a twin that was also in the womb but did not fully develop.
The child who's appearance is quite striking with four arms and four legs sprouting from her body almost like spider legs, has undergone surgery to remove her extra limbs.
The Huffington Post reports that a large team of surgeons in Bangalore (India) worked for an estimated 40 hours to remove the extra limbs.
The girl's body was joined to a twin that stopped developing in the womb. During the pregnancy the two bodies combined limbs, kidneys and other body parts. The condition is called isciopagus.
After she was born, the child was kept in hiding as she was being highly sought out by circus owners who wanted to 'buy' her from the parents.
CNN said on TV this afternoon that the child is alive after the surgery and is being kept for further evaluation.
