article imagePat Robertson Endorses Rudy Giuliani

By Oliver VanDervoort     Nov 7, 2007 in Politics
One of the most powerful figures in the social conservative movement, announced his support for Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid this morning at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
What one has to wonder now is, what did Guiliani promise in order to get Robertson's nod. It's become clear over the last few months that Guiliani has no fear of reversing his long held beliefs in order to make a bid for the White House.
Robertson, who founded the Christian Coalition, as well as the Christian Broadcasting Network, and Regent University is considered a standard bearer for the Neo-Conservative Right.
The endorsement comes despite Guiliani's well publicized views that a woman has the right to choose, and a belief that the country needs better gun control laws, two things very much out of step with Robertson and his followers.
Robertson's backing of Guiliani is considered a major blow to Mitt Romney's campain, who was openly seeking Robertson's endorsement himself
