Jenkem a new drug for kids

By Cynthia Trowbridge     Nov 7, 2007 in Crime
There is a new drug that has been reported that some kids are starting to use. It is called "jenkem". It is a hallucinogen drug which was first used in Africa. It begins with feces and urine.
This drug is made from human waste. The drug is made by fermenting human waste. The feces and urine are put in a container and a balloon attached to the top of the container with the container left in the sun to rot. The balloon is to catch the gas that can then be huffed.
What the side affects could be are unknown as the drug is so new.
It will leave a bad taste for days after it has been huffed.
When the gas is inhaled it is said to give a euphoric high. One problem that is said to be is it leaves a bad taste in the mouth for days after inhaling it.
According to information from the Collier County Sheriff's Office Sherriff's office in Naples, Florida some kids at Palmetto Ridge High school have been experimenting with the drug.
How wide spread the use is is unknown. After this report was seen on WINK-TV News in Fl. interviewed some students at the Collier County high schools.
The students said they had never heard of it and said it sounded "gross"
The Drug Enforcement Agency states that there are people in the U.S. trying it. Seems like the DEA has not tested it yet. Maybe no volunteers. But they say that the drug is dangerous.
Jenkem is used in Africa and third-world Near Asian countries as a glue-high substitute.
