article imageLeaning tower of Pisa loses Guinness title as World's Most Lopsided Building

No longer is the leaning tower of Pisa, the World’s most lopsided building, a German Church steeple has taken over the title from it. The church leans further than the Pisa tower.
The authorities managing the church tower in Suurhusen, Germany, had applied in June to the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s most lopsided building title. Today, the Guinness Book of Records acknowledged that this church tower is the winner. The officials had measured it leaning at a 5.19 degree angle compared to only 3.97 degree angle of Pisa.
Olaf Kuchenbecker of the Guinness World Records office in Hamburg said: "It is a world record."
The German church was built in the middle of the 13th century and a 90 feet tower was added in the year 1450. The tower was built primarily on wooden foundations. The oak wood foundations and the wet soil have caused the tower to slowly lean to one side over the years.
Recently they tried to stop the tower from leaning further and it finally stabilized in 1996. The Church is still offering services and also provides guided tours. The church authorities however caution more funding is needed to maintain this structure.
I think Pisa will outlast this tower and will regain the title in the future. It may have lost the title, but it will be the most recognized leaning tower in the world.
What is next for Pisa? Will it start to lean any further?
Let us wish our fellow DJ 666divine a good health and quick recovery, I heard from Chris she had to undergo an emergency operation. I am sure she will fight it and come back strong.
