The new Airbus A380 plane flown by Singapore Airlines has a sex ban in the airplane despite having double bed suites. Tony and Julie Elwood who paid a fortune for the trip think the ban is strange.
The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, four-engine airliner manufactured by Airbus. It is the largest passenger plane in the world; it has 50 per cent more floor space than the previous largest airliner; and can carry up to 853 people.
It also boasts many luxuries for first class seats, including double bed suites and many other services you would find in luxury hotels.
Singapore Airlines flew the Airbus A380 for the first time on Oct. 25 from Singapore to Sydney. Two of the initial passengers for this special flight, Tony, 76 and Julie Elwood, 51, paid a large sum to travel, and the couple booked a double bed suite.
Despite having this special bed suites, Singapore Airlines has has banned sex in their planes.
According to the Times Online, Singapore Airlines said:
“If couples used our double beds to engage in inappropriate activity, we would politely ask them to desist.”
Singapore Airlines’ Stephen Forshaw said there are certain things that are acceptable in an aircraft, and some that aren’t. He says the rules for the ban should be followed throughout the aircraft, including inside double bed suites.
Tony and Julie, however, are not happy with the ban (despite his age, Tony seems to be quite active). Tony said the airline crew treats them lavishly, with champagne and privacy. But it is strange that sex is not allowed.
Julie told the media:
"They seem to have done everything they can to make it romantic, short of bringing round oysters...I’d say they shouldn’t really complain, should they?”
Julie said the couple hardly had time for a kiss, let alone sex, as there was a stream of media and visitors who wanted to see the suite on the plane's first flight.
In my opinion, if they really want sex they could rent a luxury suite in a hotel. Do they really need to do it on a plane with 800 people?
What do you think? Should Singapore Airlines, or any other airline, allow sex in planes?
