Taiwanese animal rights activists saved a dog whose head was trapped in a plastic container for close to a month, local news media reported Sunday.
The stray was found to have carried the plastic container around its head in a neighborhood in the southern city of Kaohsiung in the past month, cable news network TVBS said.
According to the worker, an elderly woman reported the distress of the dog earlier this month. She said the animal avoided anyone trying to come near it.
It was not immediately known how the dog got its head trapped in the container and managed to survive without food and water for close to a month.
There have been increasing reports of mistreatment cases, in which some dogs were found to have clusters of rubber bands cutting into their necks or were partially skinned.
Stray-care associations and animal rights activists urged the government to punish those who mistreat animals. dpa le tl
