A former Monmouth Academy English teacher in Augusta, ME was arrested a second time for violating his bail conditions. His orders were to stay away from the 16 year old victim he was originally arrested for after having engaged in sexual activities with

Christopher Dumaine, a former Monmouth Academy English teacher who was charged with two counts of gross sexual assault and two counts of unlawful sexual contact was released on $500.00 bail after his October 11 arraignment. Now, Dumaine is back in police custody and will remain there, after he was arrested for violating the conditions of his bail.
Dumaine was arrested around 4:00 a.m. on October 23 after a state police detective witnessed the man leaving his home in the middle of the night, return, and then leave again with a16 year old girl. He was arrested in the
driveway of the girl's home, the same female listed as the victim on the original arrest report.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the details were impounded by an Augusta District Court judge however Dumaine was indicted for having engaged in sexual activities with the young lady between June 1 and September 14. For his bail release he also received further conditions forbidding him to have any contact with the 16 year old girl, her family or Manmouth Academy faculty and students. He was also directed to have no unsupervised contact with any females under the age of 18.
Dumaine's next court date is set for January 8, in Kennebec County Superior Court for a hearing, but DA Fowle expects a bail hearing to occur next week.
Dumaine taught at the Academy for 16 years before resigning from his teaching position on September 17 via an internet letter. The 16 year old victim is a student at the school
