A 16 year old male tried to flee police by driving down a wrong lane before crashing into another vehicle. The teen was taken into custody after a short struggle. He had a two year old passenger in the car at the time.
A 16 year old male, whose name is being withheld because of his age, was taken into police custody in Bridgeport, CT on Thursday after refusing to stop for police. After the teen finally crashed, police had to taser him to apprehend him. The reckless youth had a 2 year old in the vehicle with him at the time.
The event happened on October 25, when the youth refused to stop for police who spotted the vehicle with a
stolen license plate. The vehicle ended up heading eastbound on the westbound side of Railroad Avenue in Bridgeport before finally skidding over 90 feet and crashing into a pickup truck.
The teen was charged with driving a child under the age of seven without a restraint, failure to obey an officer's signal, reckless driving, theft of a license plate, driving without a license and some additional undisclosed charges.
Both the teen and the 2 year old, who sustained a cut to the head, were taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center for treatment. The Department of Children and Families was notified.
The driver of the vehicle was held on $52,500 bond until his appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
