Murder Suspect Caught Through MySpace

by Chris V. Thangham.
A seventeen year old San Leandro High School football player in California was shot dead by a gang member. The murder suspect was arrested after they found his picture in MySpace.
Greg Ballard Jr., a popular football player for the Sand Leandro High School was gunned down by gang members on October 13th. The police were unable to find a motive for the killing. Ballard had problems before but he had turned his life around academically and in Football. They pursued many leads but couldn't find the killer or killers, until they received a strong one with a picture of the suspected killer in MySpace.

Till then they had some sketches about the suspect but no clear leads, but when they were led to MySpace, they were able to locate the suspect, Dwayne Stancill, a 19 year old native from Oakland, California. He was pictured along with other gang members in a MySpace profile.

Stancill was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday afternoon when he was spotted driving a stolen car in East Oakland and is currently held without bail. He is also a son of a police detective. He has previous criminal history of stealing a car and having a concealed weapon.

The investigators were able to connect him to the murder only after they found Stancill’s picture in MySpace.

From now on instead of the police lineup for the suspects, the police should show MySpace' pictures to the witnesses, they can easily locate the criminals. The California police should also thank Rupert Murdoch for the job well done.
