When Beverley Robson got pregnant with her daughter Leah you would have thought the fertility matter would have been closed. Don't tell that in the years to come to her daughter Lara who was conceived about two weeks later.
The girls may share a
birthday but they are not twins this is because they come from different embryos. When a mother conceived twice during the same pregnancy it is called superfecundation. The phenomenon generally sees the second child dying in the womb as the older embryo gets better nourishment in the womb.
According to the Sun Beverley of Bishop Auckland, Co Durham said: "They're my miracle babies. My consultant told me I should prepare for the worst because it's so rare for the second baby to survive.
"Your hormones are supposed to stop you ovulating when you're pregnant but mine didn't. Craig and me are thrilled, our family is complete."
Leah weighed 6lb. 6oz at birth and Lara 4 lb 4 oz.. The two girls have two big brothers Kyle, nine, and six-year-old Zack.
