An old villain to return in Superman sequel?

by RobotGod.
Rumor is, we just might see an old favorite returning again as the villain in the next installment of the Superman series, when the Man Of Steel flies again. And it's not Lex Luthor.
I'm talking none other then General Zod himself, played by Terrrance Stamp. You remember, the evil leader of the trio that escaped their Phantom zone imprisonment in the second Donner movie, from way back.

PopTherapy reports that, according to Aintitcoolnews, their source(Admittedly, an untested one) saw director Ryan Singer putting pressure on Stamp to reprise his role as the villain. Obviously, it could be total fabrication, but it makes sense. It would help bridge the 70’s Donner/Reeve movies with the modern ones. And the character could have somehow survived at the end of Superman II.

True or not, this is enough to make any hardcore Superman fan wet his comic-con tights. Personally, I still think nothing compares to the Christopher Reeve Superman movies and I found Superman Returns to be 50% cool and 50% wtf . And even I am excited by this potential bit of casting.

If true, will we see the other 2 villains from Superman II or will Stamp fly solo? Stay Tuned on this one. I have a feeling there may be more cool developments ahead.
