Christopher Paul Neil has been arrested
in Thailand just recently. Interpol had tracked the suspected pedophile from Canada all the way to Thailand. Pictures were taken of Paul when he arrived in Bangkok on a flight from South Korea. He was arrested two hours northeast of Bangkok.
The warrant for Paul’s arrest came after three Thai youths confronted authorities telling them that a person meeting his description offered them money for sex. The worldwide appeal for Paul’s capture and arrest was issued a week prior to the arrest. When the three youths told the Thai authorities, an arrest warrant was issued. Border guards were placed throughout Southeast Asia in case Paul managed to flee Thailand.
Christopher Neil Paul was working as an English teacher throughout Asia. His last job was in South Korea and had started working in Thailand. It is said that Christopher Neil Paul had worked as an English teacher in South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. This worldwide manhunt for Paul began when German authorities found two-hundred photographs online of a man fitting Paul’s description sexually abusing children.
Paul was identified by hundreds of tips. Due to Canada’s sex tourism laws that allow for prosecution of crimes committed in other countries, Christopher Neil Paul would be extradited.
Should Paul have been charged and tried in a Thai court, chances are that he would’ve possibly faced the death penalty as punishment. In various countries throughout Southeast Asia, sex offenses such as pedophilia carry extremely harsh punishments.
Only thing remains is to keep track of Paul’s future trial in the Canadian court of law.
