Snowball The Cockatoo Really Knows How To Boogie Down

By Pamela Jean     Oct 18, 2007 in Entertainment
Bird Lovers Only Rescue Group has found a real star in Snowball. He shows off his incredible dancing talent to The Backstreet Boys "Everybody" song. Just makes you want to get up and dance with him doesn't it?
Reporters at USA TODAY weren't so sure that the popular video of Snowball boogie-ing down to the Backstreet Boys CD was legitimate, so they assigned a reporter to verify the authenticity of the posted footage.
The folks at Bird Lovers Only Rescue knew Snowball was a great dancer, but they had no idea just how many lives he would touch once his video hit the Internet. When Snowball was given to the bird rescue shelter a few months ago, the man included the CD and instructions to watch his reaction.
Irena Schulz said she almost fainted at the sight.
"I'm thinking, 'What on Earth is this? This is unreal,'" said Irena, who runs Bird Lovers Only Rescue with her husband, Chuck.
When Irena Schulz was contacted by USA Today she verified that the footage had not been doctored, and that Snowball is, in fact, a better dancer than most humans. Her husband shot the initial video, but the numerous TV reporters that have since arrived have also captured Snowball on film, boogie-ing down to his favorite tune.
The popular video is generating lots of attention for the bird group, which is trying to raise money to build a natural habitat for the animals it protects.
As for Snowball, he's expected to live another 70 or so years.
The northwestern Indiana couple have more than 30 birds in their home and many are available for adoption. "He makes a great spokesbird for the rescue," Chuck Schulz said.
As for Snowball - he is not available for adoption, as he has found his permanent home with the Schulz'.
"He's my baby," Irena Schulz said. "He will stay here and be loved."
